The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the Standardization Administration of China issued the National Standard Announcement ([2015] No. 38), and approved the issuance of the Information Technology – Advanced Coding of Audio and Video Part 11: Synchronized Text (GB/T 20090.11-2015) and the Information Technology – Advanced Coding of Audio and Video Part 11: Synthetic Scene (GB/T 20090.12-2015) as national standards. The standards will be officially implemented on August 1, 2016 (see the National Standard Announcement of the People's Republic of China [2015] No. 38).

The 52nd Meeting of AVS Workgroup was held in Suzhou and the result of the AVS Industrial Technology Innovation Award 2014 was announced at the meeting. After review by the expert review committee, 3 Technology Innovation Awards, 1 Product Innovation Award, and 1 Application Innovation Award were selected for the AVS Industrial Technology Innovation Award. The AVS2 Video Codec Optimization Team of Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, the AVS2 Standard Improvement and Optimization Team of Zhejiang University, and the Multi-standard Decoding Chip Series and Solutions Supporting AVS+ Development Team of Hangzhou NationalChip won the Technology Innovation Award; Shanghai GMT Technology Co., Ltd. won the Product Innovation Award; and Beijing Peony Electronic Group Co., Ltd. won the Application Innovation Award.

Top Ten Events of Electronic Information Industry Standardization in 2014 was announced, and the “Phased Results of Two Ministries and Commissions Achieved by the Joint Promotion of the Production and Application of AVS + Standard" was selected. In order to accelerate the industrialization, popularization and application of the independent innovation AVS standard, in March 2014, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television jointly issued the Implementation Guide for the Application of Advanced Coding of Video and Audio for Broadcasting (AVS+) Technology. In accordance with the principle of "rapid progress, smooth transition, incremental priority and stock consideration", the Guide clarifies the timetable for the classification and step-by-step promotion of the application of AVS+ in the fields of satellite, cable, terrestrial digital TV, Internet TV and IPTV. In order to implement the spirit of the Guide, under the guidance of the two ministries and commissions, the AVS Technology Application Joint Promotion Workgroup and the National Radio, Film and Television Standardization Technical Committee held the Publicity Meeting of AVS+ Technology Application Implementation Guide. At the same time, CCTV and Hunan TV took the lead in using the AVS+ standard to broadcast high-definition TV programs, which indicates that a major breakthrough has been made in the industrialization and application of the AVS+ standard.
