At the online closing ceremony of the 72nd Meeting of AVS Workgroup, the selection results of the AVS Industrial Technology Innovation Award 2019 were announced. After selected by a jury composed of 15 industry experts, 4 winning teams/units won the AVS Industrial Technology Innovation Award 2019: Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School AVS3 Open Source Codec R&D Team, AVS2 Audio Project Team, HiSilicon (Shanghai) Technologies Co., Ltd., and ByteDance Ltd.

The AVS3 open source encoder was launched, and both the AVS3 encoder and decoder were open for the developers to download.
